Team sessions are a good option for groups that are unavailable to participate through other learning channels or that have a unique need to be addressed. Team training is intended for teams or departments that do specific tasks or processes at the College that aren’t covered in individual training.
AudienceTeams or depts
We have a dedicated Workday support team ready to help you with any issues or challenges you run into using Workday. Submit a Workday support request and our team will respond quickly. We’ll also have a roaming student support team and two on-campus info booths in early January after go-live.

What training do I need to take and how much?
All staff are strongly encouraged to either take Workday Basics (offered online only) or explore Getting Started in Workday on our Workday Training site to help you learn to use and navigate Workday. As Workday is very intuitive, you can also learn by doing, using our online training materials as needed. The amount of training you need to take will depend on your role and the tasks you’ll do in Workday. Our individual training sessions are divided by role and topic – use these as a guide for determining what your needs are. Note that your leader may also request you do specific training, either on your own or as part of a team training session.
I’m completely new to Workday – where should I start?
A great place to get started with Workday is our Workday Training site, where you can find a range of how-to guides on common processes. Because it’s so intuitive, many people learn to use Workday without formal training. If you need more assistance in learning Workday, we recommend signing up for our instructor-led training sessions to get a deeper understanding of the system and to learn common processes for your role. If you need additional help after completing training or want to get additional hands-on practice or coaching, you can also drop by the Workday Learning Lab (M3 trailer).
How do I access in-person individual training?
To access in-person training, please register for the sessions you wish to attend. We’ll confirm your registration was successful by sending you an Outlook event invitation with the session details (location, etc.). This information can also be found on the Workday Training site. We encourage you to register as space is limited. Day-of spaces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do I need to take training again if I did it previously?
That is up to you! If you feel comfortable using Workday and can navigate using our training resources, there is no need to take training again. If you feel you need a refresher since you last took training, you are welcome to register again. Your leader may also request you do additional training.
If you did Workday training at another institution, we also recommend you explore the training site or participate in training to learn Langara processes.
What if I still need help after I take training?
If you’ve completed training but are still having trouble, you can drop by the Workday Learning Lab to get some more guided hands-on experience. If you’re experiencing a specific issue (e.g., error message you can’t resolve, etc.), you may need to submit a Workday support request.
How do I access online training sessions?
Our online training sessions will be run using Zoom. You can find upcoming online training sessions on the Workday Training Events calendar on the Workday Training site. No registration is required. You can access Zoom directly through your browser (Firefox, Chrome, or Safari work best). We recommend that you try to run Zoom from your chosen device (laptop, tablet, etc) before the training session you plan to attend online.
When will Workday training be offered?
We’ll have an intensive training period after our January 6 go-live but training will continue to be offered on an ongoing basis. Check the Workday Training site for upcoming training offerings.
What if I can’t attend training?
If you can’t attend any training sessions, explore the Workday Training site for resources that can help you with any tasks you need to complete, such as recordings of past training sessions and how-to guides. If you and the rest of your team or department are unable to attend due to your work schedules, you can also request team training.
Should I request team training?
Our team training sessions are intended for groups of people that either 1) do specialized tasks in Workday, such as processes or tasks that are unique to their area of the College or their job, or 2) have a different work schedule that makes it difficult for them to attend our individual training sessions. If you think your team or dept. requires a special team training session, please send us a request with all the relevant details and we can advise you.
Where should I go if I have questions about training?
If you’ve explored our website and the Workday Training site, and are still unclear on what you need to do in Workday, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. for advice. Note that you cannot register for training sessions by emailing us.
